The end of a long journey.....

It's hard to get started describing the Easter Vigil Mass because what I received and how it felt is somewhat beyond words.  Bottom line is that I have ceased to be a part of the Protestant churches, all 30,000 of them, and have been received into the Church founded by Christ on Peter, the Rock, and which has existed continuously for 2000 years, the visible Church of Christ on earth with a visible head, Benedict, and a visible structure.  I received the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Communion.  I received the True Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ and all the grace that attaches to these Sacraments.  I have been given power from on high, and graces to which I had imperfect access before.  And as strength is needed, the Body of Christ is now available to me every day of the week.  Heavenly food.  I have a system of Christian doctrine which has been perfected for 2000 years which I no longer need to figure out on my own.  (I tried that.  Scripture alone is simply not enough information.  If it were, there would be one Protestant church - not 30,000.  That's simply logic.)  It's no longer just 'me 'n Jesus,' but I recognize that I have the host of Heaven, God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the saints, and the angels in my life.   I participate in a beautiful, reverent time of worship, the Mass, in which the focus is on Christ and not my emotions.  I have a full Bible, all 73 books in the original, not missing the 7 books removed by Martin Luther.   What more could I want?

I thank God for bringing me home at last!

"This is My Body; this is My Blood..."

I am really friggen annoyed that one of the revised practices of the reformation was the weekly communion practiced by Protostants as opposed to the annual communion of the Catholic Church. Anyways It seems to have shifted now, the Catholic Church having communion every day and my Church at home having communion only eight times a year. I wonder what happened.

I'm not sure but I've heard more than once from reliable sources that they had it once a year and that the priest took communion on everyone's behalf. I don't know it could have just been Protistant propiganda.

This is for Michaeltheweepingwillow:  maybe you could try a year of silence while reading the church Fathers.

Yah!  Is true.  Even the One True Church has to purify herself .  (Not like the Protestants of course who handle their cleanup jobs by starting a new denomination).

For many "half-pagan, half-Christian" people during the middle ages, the priests didn't even bother with them.  Some of the priests didn't even know what they themselves were doing while celebrating mass.  That doesn't negate Truth.

So, I still say to Mr. Smarty Weeping Willow, start with a year of silence; go back to the beginning with the Apostles.  Challenge oneself to read Catholic history and then compare it to Protestant history (because most of Protestant history comes from Catholic history).  Read everything and then decide where the real potholes of Christianity are.

Take the challenge Mr. WeeperWillow?  I'd be happy to give you a list of reading material if ya can handle it.....

I didn't mean for my comment to sound sarcastic or patronizing... sorry if it came across that way. My first comment was applauding the Catholic Church and expressing disappointment with my denomination.

Haha, I knew that if I looked at this site, I'd hear about mass on Easter.

For Michael..............I believe the RCC teaches that the use of "artificial" birth control is mortal sin on the basis of the creative process of God the Father.  We prevent God's creative mandate (in real action,  by shaking our fist in His face), when the spousal partners prevent God from implanting a new soul.

I have also come from a Calvinist ( Hyper, TR and Theonomic) position, so I fully understand how difficult it is to change paradigms.   Could I reccomend 3 books to you?  The first two are lightweights, both written by converts to the RCC, ex-Calvinists.  They also have web sites that may be of interest to you.

THE SALVATION CONTROVERSY, by Jimmy Akin

FIRST COMES LOVE,   by Scott Hahn

The other book (s) are written by a 19th -20th century historian.  A look at history from a RC viewpoint.

THE GREAT HERESIES, by Hillaire Belloc

Belloc has written many books that have given me a view of history that I had never studied; the Catholic Culture view, which Christianized the world.  He is not so easy to read, but very worth the effort in coming to terms with Truth.

I am a Reformed Episcopalian (thats basically a Calvinist who loves liturgy and probably in the darkened recesses of their souls really want to be RC);  except then there's that "POPE" dealy.

I do pray that you will read the books, and then read some more and some more.  Finding TRUTH is far more difficult than living with "truths" and once one arrives at TRUTH, it's a joyous heavenly enlightenment, but it will create Hell for you on earth.

P.S. I'm the Queen of sarcasm and patronizing, so don't get too annoyed with me.
